Ask the DJ: Roman Kemp – Top 10 Most Overplayed Songs On My Phone

15 June 2016 by

Roman Kemp is making his mark on the airwaves, having scored his own prime-time show on Capital FM, Monday to Thursdays, 7-10pm.

He fronted his first show at the station just 18 months ago, at the age of 21, and still presents the 6am-9am Sunday slot today. Revellers from last weekend’s Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, will also recognise him as the presenter of one of the radio station’s biggest events of the year, featuring the likes of Ariana Grande, Little Mix and Tinie Tempah.

You can also find him on football YouTube channel, Pitch Invasion TV, and fronting 4Music’s Epic News. And that’s not all. As a regular face of the online community, Kemp also presents AdidasGameday Plus, and recently hosted Can You Make It, an innovative new series premiered live on Red Bull TV. Unsurprisingly… he’s also modelled for Topman and Dropdead.

Check out the top 10 songs this one to watch overplays on his phone…

1. Drake – ‘Controlla’

VIEWS brought back some real dancehall feeling tracks and putting Popcaan on this one just makes it an absolute banger.”

2. Justin Bieber – ‘No Pressure ft. Big Sean’

Purpose was one of my favourite albums of the last five years, as one of my favourite ‘album’ tracks, Big Sean’s verse made this an easy choice.”

3. Travi$ Scott – ‘Pick Up The Phone ft. Young Thug & Quavo’

“This song has just gone straight viral right now, so hooky!”

4. James Blake – ‘I Need A Forest Fire’

“I love James Blake and I love Bon Iver, as soon as this tracked was released I knew it was going to be a favourite.”

5. NAO – ‘Bad Blood’

“NAO’s vocals are just insane!!! Brings a subtle 90’s R&B vibe back.”

6. Kanye West – ‘Ultralight Beam’

The Life Of Pablo is an incredible piece of work, and kicking it off with a song like this just takes things to a new level, plus Chance The Rapper’s verse is just unbelievably good.”

7. A$AP Mob – ‘Yamborghini High ft. Juicy J’

“Awesome club track, awesome video and Juicy J. I have literally become obsessed with this song. RIP Yams.”

8. Skepta – ‘Text Me Back’

Konnichiwa was an album that showed that Grime can stand up next to commercial artists and the US hip hop scene, a solid piece of work from Skepta and this track stood out as a new kind of sound we haven’t heard from Grime.”

9. Bryson Tiller – ‘Overtime’

“Bryson is just too good, TRAPSOUL is incredible. It’s been out for so long now and I still have it on repeat, his vocal riffs on ‘Overtime’ mean its my favourite though.”

“Possibly my favourite track from VIEWS; PND + Drke are just the perfect combination!”
