Ask the DJ: Simon Shaw – Top 10 Tracks That You Can Expect to Hear at a Sense Traxx Party

Sense Traxx returns to Shoreditch Platform this Friday 13th April, with Simon Shaw, Tom Jay, Lund, Aloysius, Alexandra Milne and Oisin all taking a spin on the decks, from 8pm through to 2am.

“Sense Traxx began about five years ago as a house party for me and my friends in Southend,” says founder, Simon Shaw. “Since then it has grown into a record label and an events brand which has seen us partying in places as far away as Ibiza. Last month, we had our first party in London at Shoreditch Platform where we will be hosting parties every month. For those who might not know the kind of music we enjoy at Sense, I’ve picked out ten tracks which best represent what we are all about.”

1. Jack City – ‘I Don’t Wanna (Washerman Remix)’

“Upfront house vibes to start things off – this captures everything that good house music is about: uplifting vocal, pianos and jackin’ grooves.”

2. Ferreck Dawn & Robosonic – ‘In Arms’

“‘In Arms’ is just a really well-produced record. It’s easy to get lost in all the hype sometimes but when it comes down to it, the music is the most important thing and this is one which is cutting through right now as a good, solid house record.”

3. Nelson (DE) – ‘Ghetto Shout Out’

“Our brand-new release on Sense Traxx from a very talented and up-and-coming producer; Nelson is one to watch in our eyes and you can guarantee you’ll hear this at all our events for the foreseeable.”

4. Kerri Chandler – ‘Get Out (Detroit Swindle Remix)’

“I have always been a fan of Keri Chandler and Detroit Swindle have taken an all-time classic from Kerri’s back catalogue and given it a brand new and fresh rework. This guarantees to get the crowd moving when I play it.”

5. Kevin Over – ‘Cherish’

“Kevin Over is another artist who has been around some time and his releases are consistently turning heads. We’re excited to welcome him when he joins us on the 28th April at our next Southend event, and we also look forward to having Kevin deliver a remix on the label.”

6. Crazy P – ‘Stop, Space, Return’

“It’s important to have versatility in your musical taste and collection, Crazy P offer a more laid back and deep approach, but with this hooky Acid vibe it’s certainly something that works great on the dance floor for the earlier sets.”

7. Danny J Lewis – ‘Spend The Night (H Man Dub)’

“Everyone loves a classic that they recognise on the dance floor, and what better than this belter from Danny J Lewis? Packing amazing drums alongside a funky bassline, this one is something that makes me just want to be out drinking and dancing with my friends and the Sense crew.”

8. Demuja – ‘Come To Me’

“This one went straight in my record collection, 4 tracks on this EP and I love every single one, but the lead ‘Come To Me’ is such a wicked record and the quality is solid!”

9. Julyan Dubson – ‘Make A Thing’

“This was one of the first releases we ever put out on Sense Traxx and we hit the #1 spot with it. As summer is coming I reckon it’s time to give it another spin and I feel it still sounds just as fresh now as it did when I first heard it.”

10. Krystal Klear – ‘Dedication (Sound Factory Mix)’

I heard this a while ago in a few DJ sets and tried to find the ID; love the chords and again, it’s got a real House vibe. I will certainly be giving this a spin on Friday at Shoreditch Platform!
