Garbage: The Dirt on their Return

Nineties band and self-proclaimed misfits, Garbage, quit when they got sick of pandering to their record company’s requests, whatever the cost to their ‘morals or bodies’. Now, after a seven year itch to get back into making music, they have returned.

Last night the band premiered their new video for ‘Blood For Poppies’. Shot in LA and directed by renowned fashion photographer and filmmaker Matt Irwin, the video is inspired by visual artists like Magritte, Maya Deren, Luis Brunel and Francesca Woodman.

“We piled into a transit van with the ridiculously talented team of Matt Irwin and Aaron Brown and hopped around little pockets of Los Angeles creating a gorgeous surrealist dream. We ate ice cream sandwiches in the sunshine and laughed a lot. I didn’t want the shoot to end,” said the band’s front woman, Shirley Manson.

’Blood For Poppies’ will be released as a special edition red 7″ at this years Record Store Day (April 21st), alongside forthcoming new UK single, ‘Battle In Me’.

Garbage release their first album in seven years on May 14th, entitled Not Your Kind Of People.

New UK single ’Battle In Me’ will precede this with a release on May 7th.
