KIll J @ The Lexington

Last week, North London’s Lexington once again played host to Ja Ja Ja’s monthly presentation of Nordic artists. Headlining was dark experimental pop trio, KIll J, the moniker for Danish artist, Julie Aagaard.

A lively and sexual performance took us on a journey of KIll J’s sound – an experimentation of electronic breakbeats, and haunting vocals that created an underground vibe. This was no shy performance and the band were brilliantly lively, giving it their all and owning the stage.

They also sounded as cool as they looked, with Kill J wearing an elaborate patterned coat over a crop top, and the guys on beats wearing hoodies, all adding to the dark sexy vibe as they took us through tracks such as latest single ‘You’re Good But I’m Better’, ‘Propaganda’, ‘You Have Another Lover’ and ‘Cold Stone’.

It was a great gig. At a great venue. The upstairs floor at The Lexington has recently been refurbished with a beautiful backdrop bar, dance floor and stage platform.

Not your typical pop band, KIll J are definitely onto something, with their combination of dark experimental beats and sexy undertones, both vocally and through the music.

Definitely one to watch.
