So, this is it. Londoners can have their drink and eat it too.
From biscuits and chocolate, to popcorn and crumble, check out our Top 5 and whet your appetite for some of the most indulgent, edible cocktails available in our capital.
1. The Netflix and Chill (£9.50) | The Jam Tree
Could anything be more of the moment? The Jam Tree’s new winter menu boasts an impressive selection of yummy dessert based cocktails, but it was this ‘blockbuster’ combination, served with a crunchy topping of popcorn, that caught our square eyes:
Vanilla vodka, butterscotch liqueur, caramel and lemon. Served in a large popcorn cup.
2. The Gingerbread Colada (£8.50) | Barrio Soho
Barrio Soho’s new cocktail menu is based on much loved classics, all of which have been given a fun Barrio twist. Now the classic ‘Pina Colada’ has been given a festive makeover, transforming it into a lip-smacking ‘Gingerbread Colada’, complete with a tasty Christmas gingerbread man:
Santa Teresa Gran Reserva Rum with pineapple and coconut, garnished with a gingerbread man.
3. The Christmas Pudding Hard Shake (£10) | Heddon Street Kitchen
Gordon Ramsay’s Heddon Street Kitchen is offering a sneaky respite from the crowded chaos of Regent Street this Christmas, with the lure of their seasonal Christmas Pudding Hard Shake; a festive twist on the classic milkshake. But this one’s strictly for adults:
Gingerbread syrup, Bacardi Oakheart rum, Pedro Ximenez sherry, a generous scoop of velvety vanilla ice-cream and garnished with jewel-like pomegranate seeds, orange zest and a candy striped straw.
4. The Tarte Tatin (£8.00) | Cuisson
Bespoke dining company, Cuisson, have proved their expertise lies not only with food, but with cocktails as well. Their ‘Tarte Tatin’ combines all the tastes of a homemade apple dessert, and is served with a spoonful of soft crumble to soak up the sweet flavourings:
Calvados, green apple, caramel, pink apple puree and shortbread crumble.
5. The Chocolate Flip (£9.00) | The Cocktail Trading Company Smithfield
The boys over at The Cocktail Trading Company Smithfield are pro’s in whipping up tasty cocktails with edible garnishes. One for the chocoholics is their truly indulgent ‘Chocolate Flip’, served with a melt in the mouth chocolate truffle and crisp biscuit wafer:
Bacardi 8 year rum, cacao-infused Chartreuse, tawny port, pistachio ice cream.
