Random Obscurities: Muse & The Tornados ‘Ridin’ The Wind’

24 August 2015 by

Some might say, that there is a certain similarity between The Tornados, ‘Ridin’ The Wind’ and Muse’s ‘Knights of Cydonia’, this however, might not be a coincidence. If you look closely enough in the picture above, you’ll see a slight resemblance between Matt Bellamy and the little dude in the middle of the photo, who happens to be… yes, you guessed it! His old man, George Bellamy.

The Tornados of ‘Telstar‘ fame – and sometime backing group for Billy Fury – made some interesting recordings in the sixties with late producer Joe Meek in his Holloway Road studios, and this sweet piece of moon chasing, instrumental surf, is a must hear for any fan of Muse – and anyone else for that matter.
