Random Obscurities: The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas

We are halfway through December and the streets are adorned with lights, while we, the merry souls of mother earth are happily and merrily letting the warmth of the annual chaos fill our hearts once again.

Still, it’s not Christmas yet. Not without The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas, a 1968 Christmas album by Voice of the Century: Frank Sinatra – in a loving moment – welcoming the Yuletide in angelic singsong style in the company of his beloved offspring, Frank Sinatra Jr, Nancy Sinatra and Tina Sinatra.

This brilliant album was out of print for decades and completely vanished into obscurity, before finally being re-released on CD in 1999.

Our track of the week, ‘The Bells Of Christmas’ – loosely based on traditional folk standard, ‘Green Sleeves’ – witnesses the Sinatra family gathering around the mic in a whirlpool of vocal beauty, as they were back then, frozen in time.
