The summer just got a revival hitting 29 degrees here in CPH, so why not steal some of the hottest beauty trends for spring/summer 2017 before hitting a rooftop party?

Sunshine and rain showers were both part of Copenhagen Fashion Week when the SS17 collections were presented. I was out and about to see if I could spot the coming beauty trends.

Among the shows I saw live, I have to say my two favourites were Lala Berlin and Lovechild 1979. Both were bold enough to hold their shows outside, and both experienced rain just before they started, which truly gave the show a magical vibe – seeing the clouds open and letting the sun shine through, just as the music started.

Besides the clothes, the overall look and feel of a fashion show is imprinted on you when you view a collection. The music, the mood, the vibe. Keeping up with a fashion week schedule is TOUGH but thankfully I’m in good shape (even in high heels!).

Glowing skin, feminine features and natural hair, the runway trends aren’t too hard to copy! Here are my favourite looks and how to achieve them. You’re welcome.

Ganni SS17

GANNILook: Space Cowboy

How to: Ganni’s ‘Space Cowboy’ look was as freaky as it sounds, although hair and skin kept natural. Go for a tinted moisturiser and a bit of highlight around the eyes, cheekbones and bridge of the nose. Then use a darker rouge under your cheekbones to contour and make them stand out. For the ‘spacey’ part, add blue/turquoise eye shadow to the lids, and an orange below the eye. Use a bright highlighter on the eyelid and keep lashes and brows natural. There you have it, Space Cowboy.

Baum und Pferdgarten SS17

How to: Even out your skin tone with a tinted moisturiser, nothing too heavy. Add some glow with a highlighter on your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, top of the Cupid’s bow and in the corner of the eye. Use a rosy blusher and a natural or slightly coloured lip balm. Create a light smokey-eye, using a brown coloured eye shadow around the eye (above and below). Black eyeliner below the eye, keep the water line neutral, and top it all with several layers of mascara. Make sure your brows look full and a bit heavy but still natural for your face. Centre part your hair and sleek it down with some hairspray, and you’re done!

Lala Berlin SS17

LALA BERLINLook: Clean Skin & Crazy Coloured Eyes

How to: Even out your skin tone, using a light foundation or tinted moisturizer. Highlight your cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin and forehead (be careful not to over-do it). Add some shadow below your cheekbones to contour. Use the same colour eye shadow as mascara, preferably a crazy colour. Lala used yellow, orange, blue and green. Keep the brows natural and hair simple with a centre parting. Backstage the big success criteria was skin tone. And they nailed it! Well done, glam squad ;)

Lovechild 1979 SS17

Lovechild 1979 SS17 (c) Copenhagen Fashion Week

LOVECHILD 1979Look: Ladylike & Romantic

How to: Basically you need to highlight everything beautiful and feminine in your face! Start out with natural even skin. Contour your cheekbones, jawline, nose, cupid’s bow and the sides of your forehead. Tinted lip balm for some pouted lips, highlight the Cupid’s bow as well for a more dramatic effect. Add a rosy blusher on your cheekbones and highlighter on top. Do a smokey-eye using a warm brown colour with some shimmer in it (maybe sun powder), or add shimmer on top. Go almost all the way up to the brows, and all the way below and around the eye. Put on some mascara and keep the water line natural.

Saks Potts SS17

Saks Potts SS17 (c) Copenhagen Fashion Week

SAKS POTTSLook: Highlighted Pink

How to: Natural looking skin (as usual I was just about to write, but it does seem the case for SS17), and rose hinted lips. Use pink blusher to highlight the cheekbones with a heavier pink on the eyelids. Natural brows and lashes, that’s it!

Henrik Vibskov SS17

Henrik Vibskov SS17 (c) Copenhagen Fashion Week

How to: Plain natural looking skin and pale, matt looking surface. Don’t use any shimmer, except for on the cheekbones. Put a little blusher on the cheeks, and use a concealer to make your lips pale and blend in with your face. Add lipstick in the middle of the lips, drawing a smaller heart shaped mouth.

Since the skin plays such a big part in all these looks – and a thick layer of foundation doesn’t – a great skin care routine will bring you half the way. This might be advice you’ve heard before, but all great tips deserve repeating.

Drink Lots of Water
Minimum 2 litres per day, and start your morning with 1 or 2 glasses of water before anything else.

Get Enough Sleep
The amount of sleep we need varies from person to person, and from season to season, so just listen to your body.

Clean Your Face Every Night
Need I say more!

Eat Lots of Vegetables
Minerals, vitamins, fibres are all vital for your organs to function well, AND your skin!

Exercise! Get Your Sweat On
Sweat out toxins, get the blood flow going, get that butt moving.
