Super Faux: Teddy Bear Furs

The 90s are undergoing a seriously monumental fashion revival right now. Having witnessed the comeback of the choker necklace, a myriad of A listers daring it in denim dungarees and baring their midriffs in crop tops and two-pieces; scrunchies making a comeback and the buffalo shoes once exhibited by the Spice Girls threatening their return, it seems these trends, the epitome of the 90s, are just as current and fashion forward as they were ‘back in the day’.

But as we transition from winter to spring, it’s another item that we’re still holding onto, and one that was prevalent on the streets during London Fashion Week AW16 – the teddy bear coat, aptly named for its super-faux, oversized shaggy textures and bear like appearance. Favoured by Kim Kardashian in 2014, after she was papped out and about in a Max Mara design, we then saw the trend grow as the likes of Rita Ora, Suki Waterhouse, and fashion savvy Alexa Chung all cosied up in their teddy bear furs.

Some of the ‘Teddies’ that we’re really doting on right now include the Baby Blue Boxy Coat, the Cookie Peacoat, the Tweety Boxy Coat and the Baby Pink Boxy Coat from THP SHOP. We adore the hues of these coats as well as the quirky names for them! Whilst warm and cosy for those colder nights and days, the pop of colour is perfect for spring and summer. Grab one before they go, as they’re currently on sale.

Helen Moore is currently showcasing her latest summer designs with 2016’s capsule collection Fresh & Acid with a variety of stoles and accessories. The Buttercup Faux Fur Shirt Collar is sure to make a statement of any outfit in such a vibrant shade of yellow, or if preferred it also comes in willow. If you thought the collection couldn’t get any cuter there is also a variety of pom pom key chains, pom pom beanies and the Heather/Buttercup Faux Fur Clutch is just adorable!

If outlandish is more your thing, then take a peek at Shrimps Pre Spring 16 collection. Their take on the Teddy bear coat infuses a 60s style with a playful carefree vibe, available in a longer length they are the perfect cover up, sure to make an impact. We love the mint greens, violets and floral designs. The Kylie coat has a real Bohemian look to it whilst the Bambi jacket has more of a girly edge.

While the weather is starting to heat up we don’t doubt the teddy bear coat will die out that quickly as fashion trends recycle, so don’t be too surprised if you see these lovely cosy coats comeback as the quick and impacting as the 90s have!
