Wanted: Courtney Love Style

The first in our Wanted series is inspired by none other than rock-chic princess, Courtney Love. Love is famed for her ’90s grunge style with a spin, and since the ’90s have been back for a while now, we decided this was a perfect place to start. We styled a few outfits so that you can get the β€˜Courtney’ look in a modern way- FMS style.

Start with accessories. Courtney loves long necklaces and big shades, and we picked up these pieces (Β£3 each) at the ever affordable Forever 21, proving you can embellish expensive pieces with inexpensive details.

We paired Cloe Cassandro’s pink satin β€˜Ellory’ top (Β£195) with a velvet dress from Missguided (Β£18), to create a very Love-esque layered look, for a cool casual vibe. The shirt is perfect to wear loosely as the pink satin offsets the relaxed feel by adding a β€˜Courtney’ princess element to the piece. This works similarly with the velvet dress which says β€˜put together but falling apart’.

We couldn’t create this look book without a slip dress, as Courtney without a slip dress is like Cobain without a striped t-shirt. For this look we paired Cloe Cassandro’s V-neck Slip Dress in pink satin (Β£230) with an amazing red leather jacket (Β£30) we thrifted at vintage store – Reign Vintage in Soho. For the Courtney Love look, vintage shops are a must-go as her look largely involves loose fitting staple pieces that are never amiss.

To get the makeup look, we smudged Mac’s paint pot in β€˜Γ©clair’ on the eyes and used eyelash glue and glitter to adorn our cheekbones. We then used NYX’s β€˜Berlin’ for a dark lip and clipped butterflies in our hair. You can use flowers, braids, tiaras – get creative.
