Introducing: Astronomyy – The Man Behind MNEK & Zara Larsson’s ‘Never Forget You’

Twenty-six year old Astronomyy hails from Worcestershire and has quickly established himself as one to watch with his strong songwriting skills and contemporary fusion of R&B and electronica.

The last 12 months has seen the artist, aka Arron Davey, help others establish themselves (reworking Billie Eilish ‘Ocean Eyes’) and co-writing and producing one of the biggest pop songs of the year (MNEK & Zara Larsson‘s ‘Never Forget You’). Alongside these successes he has established his own artistic voice, performing original compositions and covers, and enjoying over 17 million streams in the process. Exposed to a broad range of musical styles from a young age – capturing everything from classic rock to ’90s and ’00s pop and R&B, to Zeppelin and Jackson – his own work fuses the worlds of songwriting and modern electronica in a contemporary musical blend that seems perfectly suited to pop chart success.

Recent releases, ‘Hypnotized’ and ‘Things I’d Do For U’ are perfect examples of his genre warping approach. ‘Hypnotized’ matches dark and powerful trap influenced production with his understated but smooth vocal delivery. ‘Things I’d Do For U’ meanwhile demonstrates Davey’s ability to write killer pop songs, ably supported by crisp drums and accented by muffled keys and guitar work. These releases follow the success of his When I’m With You and There For U EPs and covers of the likes of Ariana Grande’s ‘Into You’ and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’.

Davey has also enjoyed performing alongside James Blake at London’s Field Day and spent time in the Radio 1Xtra studio after his first on air interview with Jamz Supernova. The future looks incredibly bright for Astronomyy as a producer, songwriter and as an artist in his own right, and no doubt we will be hearing more and more of him on chart radio in the near future.

‘Hypnotized’ and ‘Things I’d Do For U’ are out now on Astronomyy’s own label, Lunar Surf and his key tracks can be streamed HERE.
