The Suicide Girls Perform Wildly Entertaining Blackheart Burlesque Show @ Camden’s Electric Ballroom

Camden’s Electric Ballroom recently played host to the Suicide Girls’ Blackheart Burlesque Tour, presenting North London with a fantastic performance of their high energy show, which saw an interactive audience get topless, and one lucky gent receive a steamy lap dance.

The Suicide Girls are a female collective that represent forms of alternative beauty – girls with tattoos and piercings, not having, or aspiring to, conventional ideas of beauty. The inclusive group welcomes new members and all Suicide Girls add the name Suicide to their first name or stage name, such as Sunni Suicide, who made an appearance on this particular Saturday night in Camden.

The interactive show saw one member of the packed audience asked to join the Suicide Girls on stage. The lucky gent appeared to quite enjoy his steamy lap dance, but it was all good clean fun and he managed to keep his hands to himself whilst being entertained by the lovely lady. Mid show, the collective joined together on stage to perform their cult classic number modelled on Star Wars, all wearing Star Wars helmets, dancing up and down the stage with great enthusiasm, and an ecstatic audience cheering the girls on.

The grand finale saw female members of the audience gather in a line on stage to perform in a strip tease competition, to be judged by the rest of the audience, who were asked to cheer loudly if they wanted to see the ladies perform a semi-nude lap dance. Much to the excitement of the crowd, this gave the ladies so much encouragement that some even went topless! The winner was deemed by the loudest cheers, and the lucky lady won a subscription to the Suicide Girls website and goodie bag.

Overall, it was a wildly entertaining night full of cheers and whoops from the audience, and great enthusiasm and entertainment from the Suicide Girls. I enjoyed the lively personalities of the girls, who were full of life and vitality and made for a great atmosphere the whole night.

Incidentally, I did manage to snag a goodie bag from the merchandise table myself – no exposure required – and certainly hope to see the Suicide Girls next time they’re in town!
