Vanishing Life: Hardcore Supergroup Preview Album Debut w/ New Single, ‘The Realist’

Post-hardcore/punk supergroup, Vanishing Life, have released ‘The Realist’, a thumping, blues influenced track from their upcoming debut album, Surveillence.

Led by Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Rival Schools), who is joined by Rise Against’s Zach Blair (guitar) β€¦And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead’s Autry Fulbright (bass) and Jamie Miller (drums), the band was first conceptualised at Groezrock Festival in 2013. Their output since then has brought together the hard charged energy of their roots, having previously released a 7″ on Collect Records in 2014. That record felt like the band were still finding their feet, and understanding the parameters for working together across two short and sharp, fuzz infused tracks. With passing time has come this understanding, and fuller, more developed ideas have emerged.

Vanishing Life have already released ‘Exile’ from Surveillence, which clearly built on the formula previously established on the 7″. ‘The Realist’ however provides strong hints at there being even more to come from the group. The single is a thrilling combination of hardcore, blues, garage and punk that allows each individual to push their boundaries and experiment with new musicians and sounds in the later stages of their careers. There is the trademark urgency of Blair’s guitar work, Schreifels’ vitriolic yet melodic roar and the tight connection between Miller and Fulbright, which all combine to create an MC5 influenced stomper.

The album was produced by Vanishing Life and Davey Warsop (Glassjaw, Head Automatica) at Hurley Studios in Costa Mesa and mastered by Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw).

Surveillance will be released on 11 November via Dine Alone Records. The first two singles are available now and the album available for pre-order HERE.
