As she gets set to launch her brand-new label, Improvisations X Inspirations, Emika reveals a playlist of 10 tracks which transport the listener to another world.

Emika is well known for being an artist who embraces change with unbridled creativity, with her music spanning both the electronic and modern classical worlds. Her sparse and beautiful piano album, Klavirni Temna was released earlier this year, and she performed a spectacular show at Berlin’s planetarium in February. She plans to take this live show on the road to other planetariums around the world as soon as she can.

Her new collaborative label will give artists the opportunity to transform the album making process, stripping back things to their raw emotions and inspired moments. Giving artists and listeners alike, a different perspective to enjoy and appreciate. Tune in to her playlist below and drift away.

1. Arvo Pärt – Fratres

“Forever connecting with whoever listens.  This is a beautiful modern classical composition which seems to be independent of time.”

2. Burial – ‘State Forest’

“I absolutely love this latest release of ‘tunes’ by the mysterious Burial. It’s atmospheric and minimal and creates the perfect vibe to be transported to another world.”

3. Caterina Barbieri – ‘INTCAEB’

“Music like this is all I want to listen to at the moment. Completely void of beats, and full of synthetic energy. It sounds like music from another dimension.”

4. Sarah Davachi – ‘For Voice’

“Sarah Davachi is so graceful, and this song is so touching. When I listen to it, I feel touched and soothed as if from somewhere very far away from here.”

5. Sophia Saze – ‘Wave’

“The first track with any kind of beats, ‘Wave’ is such a magical tune – I like to think it’s made from unicorn beats. I find it very inspiring at a time when inspiration is at a premium.”

6. Erik Satie – ‘Gnossienne No.1’

“An absolute dreamy piano classic. I defy you not to be soothed when listening to this beautiful piece of music.”

7. Emika – ‘Mouth To Mouth’

“I chose this song from my album, DVA as it seems so fitting right now. I never thought we would experience a time when the government can keep us from being close.”

8. Emika – ‘Dilo 33’

“Taken from my recent album, Klavirni Temna which is Czech for ‘Dark Piano’ – it’s my own dreamiest dimension and I hope the listener will be transported away too.”

9. Portishead – ‘Roads (Live)’

“The guardians of all deepness. I have always loved Portishead, and this live version of ‘Roads’ is the most spine-tingling performance.”

10. Emika – ‘What’s The Cure (Eomac Remix)’

“More from the magical dimension. This remix of ‘What’s The Cure’ by Irish producer, Eomac, is a swirling and hypnotic journey.”

Emika’s piano album, Klavirni Temna, is out now.
