Today sees the release of HEBE’s new single ‘Hunting Me’ – the first offering from her forthcoming debut album, Cards On The Table – that tells the story of a vivid dream in which the artist faces her own demons; “I could feel these fears so clearly but couldn’t see or grab them. In ‘Hunting Me’ I try to make these fears tangible by giving them a face.”

Hailing from Amsterdam, the talented artist has been collaborating with some of the Netherlands’ finest musicians. Credits for the new cut see award-winning producer/mixer Huub Reijnders, drummer Martijn Bosman, pianist and vocalist Ruben Hein contributing to the harmonious contrast of warm, catchy vocals set to pulsating electro-pop drums and synths.

‘Hunting Me’ and Cards On The Table follows on from previously released EPs The Beginning and the internationally acclaimed Tell Me, which have garnered upwards of a million streams on Spotify and received airplay from Hoxton Radio, Fubar Radio and Reprezent Radio. This early international approval culminated in HEBE performing at the prestigious Metropolis Studios and at London’s renowned Camden Assembly, whilst back in her own country HEBE has already performed on national TV and radio shows.

“About this playlist of ten songs. Most of my playlists are quite random, however there is one situation where I get very picky in what I want to hear. This playlist could be on repeat when I have to fly somewhere.”

1. Electric Light Orchestra – ‘Mr. Blue Sky’

“This song has so many different parts and vibes, feels like your life is flashing by before your eyes. It’s the perfect song for all the moods I go through before and during a flight, fitting title as well ;).”

2. Michael Kiwanuka – ‘I’m Getting Ready’

“I tend to get superstitious when nervous, so a song about believing in something couldn’t miss in this playlist.”

3. James Blake – ‘I’ll Come Too’

““I’m gonna say what I need. If it’s the last thing I do. / I do, I do, I do. I’m in that kind of mood. / I’ve thrown my hat in the ring, I’ve got nothing to lose. / With you. With you. With you. I’m in that kind of mood” – I love the vibe of this song, one of the sweetest James Blake songs if you ask me.”

4. Nick Drake – ‘Pink Moon’

“His voice is so soothing; gives a feeling of nostalgia. My boyfriend sometimes starts DJ’ing for me when we are home and drunk. Nick Drake and Keane are always on his list and we sing along very, very loud.”

5. Van Morrison – ‘Virgo Clowns’

“This song takes me back to my childhood. We would listen very often to Van Morrison, so it reminds me of home. I love how the lyrics are so uplifting, yet the music has some sadness in it as well, still one of my favourite musicians and songwriters.”

6. Laura Mvula – ‘I Don’t Know What The Weather Will Be’

““Tell me another story with a happy ending” – such a cute first line, the humming of the vocal choir makes it sound like a lullaby.”

7. Daniel Caesar – ‘We Find Love’

“I fly back and forth between Uganda and Amsterdam because my boyfriend lives in Uganda. I remember listening to this song in the airplane at night and it made me feel so strong and joyful. The piano riff is amazing <3”

 8. Bon Iver – ‘29 #Strafford APTS’

““Being sad about something is okay, and then wallowing in it, circling the same cycles emotionally feels boring.” He said this in an interview in The Guardian about writing about sad experiences. I want Bon Iver in all my playlists! <3”

9. Sigrid – ‘Mine Right Now’

“Very powerful song. The upward line to the chorus and the melodie and lyrics in the chorus makes me want to jump up and sing my lungs out.”

10. FKA Twigs – ‘Home With You’

“This soprano voice!!! I also love her visual look, video’s and artwork.”
