Ask the DJ: Rachelle Rhienne – Top 10 Tracks Set For My Summer 2019 Playlist

Rachelle Rhienne is an award-winning singer/songwriter and recording artist who writes big, emotional power ballads with lyrics that tell a story, and melodies that touch people. Her catchy, up-tempo Pop tracks, with influences of Latin, Soul and R&B, caught the interest of producers and labels in LA, London, Sweden, Spain and Germany, where she has been involved in collaborative writing projects with songwriters from the UK and the US over the past few years.

Her latest single ‘M2M’ (Midnight to Morning) is the ultimate summer vibe with a rhythm that inspires salsa dancing, tropical climates and a love for everything Latin. The song tells the story of two young people who form a bond through their passion for dancing, which quickly and effortlessly translates seamlessly into love for each other. “It’s about love at first sight, having no fears and going with your feelings, and all the time knowing that you can be yourself around someone you consider to be your soulmate.”

Rhienne recently appeared as a TV judge on BBC One’s All Together Now, and has headlined and performed in some of the UK’s top music venues, such as King Tuts, The SECC (Clyde Auditorium,) The Hippodrome and Ronnie Scott’s in London. Check out the Top 10 tracks set for her summer 2019 playlist.

10. Sean Paul, David Guetta – ‘Mad Love ft. Becky G’

“I remember this song coming out shortly after my song ‘Contigo’ was written and recorded. My producer, James Birt, texted me saying to check it out and how it had similar vibes to ‘Contigo’. I have loved it since!”

9. Clean Bandit – ‘Solo ft. Demi Lovato’

“This is such a perfect summer vibe track. I love the production and Demi’s vocal. I don’t go clubbing much but when I do go out with my friends, this is the song we always request.”

8. George Ezra – ‘Shotgun’

“This is still one of my favourite songs by George. I sing it acoustically at a lot of my gigs with my piano and it always goes down so well. I love how raw and authentic the video is, really captures his personality.”

7. Mark Ronson – ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart ft. Miley Cyrus’

“Absolutely love Miley’s vocals in this track. It’s great to see her going back to her country routes, it really suits her! Mark totally nailed the production too!”

6. Camila Cabello – ‘Havana ft. Young Thug’

“Still obsessed with this song. It was written by a very talented songwriter, Ali Tamposi. I love all of her songs and Camila completely nailed this track as the perfect summer hit! The music video is awesome too.”

5. Kesha – ‘Praying’

“This isn’t really a massive summer song but it’s in a lot of playlists. It’s a song that really means a lot to me. I connect to the story and lyrics behind it on so many levels and it always really moves me. The music video is epic.”

4. Carlos Vives, Shakira – ‘La Bicicleta’

“This song came out around the time my grandma passed away and I remember going down to Wales and playing this consistently. It really lifted my mood and I will always remember it for that.”

3. Luis Fonsi – ‘Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee’

“This will forever be a summer smash. I LOVE Luis and his music. He has such a great voice and it was amazing for this song to have been such a massive hit that introduced him properly to the UK. Big fan of singing this at my gigs to get the crowd going!”

2. CNCO, Little Mix – ‘Reggaeton Lento (Remix)’

“This song came out when my boyfriend and I took our first trip to Paris. I must have driven him crazy singing it constantly! We visited Spain the same year and I was still singing it everywhere haha!”

1. Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin – ‘I Like It’

“This is my favourite song at the moment, so there’s no doubt this made it on to my Summer playlist this year. Such a feel good track that is so easy to dance to. I attended some Salsa classes prior to filming the music video for my current single ‘M2M’ and this is the song I would practice to.”
