Ellie Moon’s debut single ‘Indecisive’ is powerfully upbeat and humorously self-deprecating all at the same time. It sets out the stall of a new popstar, who calls upon the every-day and mundane to create her own unique brand of hits. Lyrically, she is reminiscent of the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Debbie Harry and early Lily Allen.
‘Indecisive’ is a single that challenges Ellie’s own inability to make decisions, and in the video, we see her quick changing through a wardrobe of different styles, set to her distinctive guitar and brass infused melodies.
“I was cripplingly indecisive. I’ve been known to change outfits five times before I leave the house just to go to the supermarket… and I’m always late.”
Speaking about the song, Ellie says: “I was cripplingly indecisive. I’ve been known to change outfits five times before I leave the house just to go to the supermarket… and I’m always late. The lyrics come from that, and also how I always say the opposite to what I actually mean.”
Born in Liverpool, Ellie and her family moved to Madrid when she was just 11. “When I first started, it was just me and a guitar in Madrid” she explains, “I didn’t know any other musicians. It was a 20€ guitar from a little Spanish place.” The singer-songwriter route didn’t last long for her though, and she quickly changed direction. “It just wasn’t me, or my personality, so I branched out and started to play in a band. I loved Jazz and Neo Jazz, so thought maybe I should try that, and I somehow ended up where I am now.”
Ellie is set to release her debut EP, Moonisms later this year, and we’re predicting big things for this talented newcomer!
