Canadian alt-pop duo, Neon Dreams – aka vocalist Frank Kadillac and drummer Adrian Morris – have just released their latest single ‘Turn Back Now’, carrying forward their aim to heal and empower their listeners.
The new track, produced by Corey LeRue (Dreaming Out Loud Records), is extremely personal to Frank as it recounts his perspective of witnessing his mother going through chemotherapy and beating cancer. A track centred around the power of positive thinking, it has all the elements that makes Neon Dreams successful; a well-told story, a beautiful melody and emotions that tug at the heartstrings.
“I wanted to create a song that would help inspire others facing struggle,” says Kadillac. “Watching my mother last year as she fought cancer, I was amazed at how positive she remained through the entire process. I started watching movies, reading books and listening to music from my childhood that inspired me and made me who I am. I realized they are all heroic. A phrase that came up a lot in all these outlets that inspired me was we came way too far to turn back now. I wrote the song based on that concept.”
“This song is important because we all need a reminder every day that it’s ok to feel sad. Life can be challenging, but as long as you don’t give up, you’ll make it through.”
“This song is important because we all need a reminder every day that it’s ok to feel sad. Life can be challenging, but as long as you don’t give up, you’ll make it through. Some people don’t have anyone to tell them that. I want Neon Dreams to be that band telling you it’s going to be alright.”
In 2019, the duo explored their full potential for making music that comforts people, giving the listeners some much-needed solace in a world that seldom provides it. Drawn from Kadillac’s own experiences of a troubling childhood, this new musical perspective culminated in the form of the duo’s debut album, Sweet Dreams Till Sunbeams.
The album – which included songs like uplifting anthem ‘High School Dropout’ as well as cathartic title track ‘Sweet Dreams till Sunbeams’ – was the result of Kadillac’s search to find his own voice and discover his power as a songwriter, and it became the beginning of a new chapter for Neon Dreams.
Neon Dreams are currently supporting The Strumbellas on tour in Victoria, BC, and continue across Canada throughout January and February.
