Norwegian pop newcomer, Trevis, debuted his first wave of music in 2017, with four consecutive singles, while this summer saw the release of his latest track ‘Way You Do It’.
“‘Way You Do It’ is a feel-good summer record about a girl I’m falling for,” explains 19-year-old Trevis, who worked on the track with Harmony ‘H-Money’ Samuels and Edgar ‘JV The Producer’ Etienne, who has made music for the likes of Ariana Grande, Chris Brown, Fifth Harmony and Ne-Yo. “It was produced, written and recorded in the South of Spain, at around 4 am after a night out. We loved the music people were dancing to, especially this one girl, and it inspired me to do a song like this.”
As for his Top 10, “I created this playlist based on a typical Trevis kick-back. It’s perfect whether you and your friends are hanging out by the pool or playing games and talking late at night.
“My favourite artist at the moment is Travis Scott, therefore he got the number one and two spots right now. I also added my own single ‘Paranoid’ onto the list because it really fits the mood, and every time I’m with my friends they tell me to play it at least two or three times!
“The music I listen to is definitely more urban, and the new music I’ve been creating has a more urban feel to it. We’re still working on a release date, but we’re looking to release my next single later this month or early October. I’m really excited to share my next wave of music!”
1. Travis Scott – ‘Yosemite’
“This is my favourite song from Astroworld and it’s a perfect kick-back starter to loosen things up.”
2. Travis Scott – ‘Wake Up’
“’Wake Up’ features both The Weeknd and Travis Scott, who are two of my favourite artists at the moment. The guitar, beat and strong melodies are done by some of my favourite producers in the game; Frank Dukes, Sevn and Wallis Lane. Therefore it got the second spot on my playlist.”
3. The Weeknd – ‘Reminder (Remix) Feat. A$AP Rocky & Young Thug’
“I chose the remix version of this song because the A$AP Rocky and Young Thug verses added a whole new vibe to it. This song is laid-back but still up-tempo enough to keep the party going.”
4. Jeremih – ‘Oui’
“I’m a big Jeremih fan, and everyone knows the lyrics to this smash of a record ‘Oui’. Every time it plays I see both girls and guys sing-a-long and dance, so I had to have it on my kick-back playlist.”
5. Trevis – ‘Paranoid’
“I added my own single ‘Paranoid’ onto the list because it really fits the mood, and every time I’m with my friends they tell me to play it at least two or three times!”
6. Chris Brown – ‘Pills & Automobiles’
“This is one of the more up-tempo records on my list. Chris Brown is my favourite artist and someone who´s inspired me a lot artistically. ‘Pills & Automobiles’ go with any party you’re having, even if it’s just you partying in your own living room, this song will get you dancing…”
7. Ty Dolla $ign – ‘Clout feat. 21 Savage’
“This was a tough one because I loved the entire Beach House 3 project he dropped. I chose ‘Clout’ with 21 Savage for this particular list, because it’s been on rotation in the car and been played every time I’m out with friends.”
8. Wiz Khalifa – ‘Hopeless Romantic feat. Swae Lee’
“Romantic is such a viiibeee. My favourite line from the song is Swae Lee´s, ‘My night runs into morning, all the time’. That’s what a kick-back is all about.”
9. Frank Ocean – ‘Swim Good’
“Frank Ocean’s ‘Swim Good’ is a timeless throwback that we have to protect at all costs. This song is the most unexpected to make this list, but once it starts playing you can’t help but bop your head to it.”
10. Miguel – ‘Sky Walker’
“I had to finish strong with one of the waviest artists out right now, Miguel. ‘Sky Walker’ which features no one other than Travis Scott wraps up my ultimate kick-back playlist. Peace!”
