Every once in a while a record crops up that blows you away on the atmosphere front, and Russian beatsmith Tim Aminov’s latest offering does just that. Set for release February 12 via Berlin’s Sonar Kollektiv, Moment is a masterfully produced five-tracker that’s saturated with a goose-bump inducing sense of foreboding.

Aminov first appeared on the German label’s radar as one half of Aanbreken — the duo renowned for their mesmerising 2014 debut Verge. Fast forward two years and Moment has all the promise of granting the Moscow-based producer his big breakthrough. Fusing elements of downtempo jazz with a healthy dose of analog synth, Aminov’s bass-infused oeuvre has a classy texture to it. What’s more, having the likes of Vasilisa Moroz and fellow Aanbreken partner in crime Gala Ga on vocal duties only adds to the EP’s haunting feel.

In tandem with the EP announcement, Aminov dropped a captivating video for his lead track ‘One Lone Survivor’ featuring Pete Josef. Tracing the lone wanderings of a young boy through a deserted Chernobyl-style ghost town, it’s a perfect visual match for the stirring tune it accompanies. Before you’re able to get your hands on the goods tomorrow, whet your appetite with the video above!
