London Fashion Week is set to hit the streets of Soho this week as the renowned event moves from Somerset House, where it has been held since 2009; welcoming 12-fashion seasons. Ahead of its 62nd edition, we’ve located all the hot spots you need to be at.
The new central location fulfills the British Fashion Council’s goal to host LFW in the West-End, providing close proximity to major retail spaces. Dating back to 1929, the Brewer Street Car Park is an iconic art deco building designed by architect JJ Joass that is fast becoming one of Soho’s most dynamic creative spaces.
Nine of Britain’s brightest emerging talents have received support from NewGen sponsored by Topshop to showcase their SS16 collections. Look out for new names such as, 1205, Ashley Williams and Ryan Lo. Previous NewGen winners include the likes of, now household names, Alexander McQueen, Erdem and Christopher Kane.
VERSUS announced they’re joining the official LFW schedule, and this will be Anthony Vaccarello’s first catwalk show for the label since he was made creative director in January. Zandra Rhodes returns to the line-up, kicking off the five-day event on Friday, September 18th. Topshop Unique has sure as hell held its own name against big name designers season after season, excited to see what’s in store. Ryan Lo was one of the stand-out shows of AW15; where he offered outfits fit for ice queens.
Celebrating London’s Fashion Week’s move to its new central location, the British Fashion Council has announced a host of public events that’ll run alongside LFW. For five days Golden Square will be home to screenings, pop-ups, exclusive offers and special events.
LFW will hold its very own outdoor cinema, featuring live streaming from the catwalks, fashion films and digital presentations from Hunter, McQ Alexander McQueen, SHOWstudio, Vogue and Zoe Jordan. LFW Talk Series includes key speakers such as, Peter Pilotto and Zandra Rhodes, as Conde Nast College open its doors to the public.
Plus, London Fashion Weekend, fashion’s most exciting and exclusive pop-up, is back (at another exciting NEW venue!) Saatchi Gallery in Duke of York Square. This is an opportunity to explore the life of the fashion insider; shop from over 150 of the world’s best brands at an exclusive price. Involve yourself in the rare opportunity to experience trend-setting catwalk shows. Talk to your favorite designer and indulge in skin care and make-up advice.
