On Repeat: Issermann Shares ‘Sad + Boring’ & We Can’t Stop Listening To It

Grunge trap artist, Issermann has dropped his second track, ‘Sad + Boring’ and we can’t stop listening to it. ‘I don’t like myself when I’m with you / Words coming out of me don’t sound true…’ he sings, while refecting on a relationship where he feels ‘conquered’ by his love interest.

“It’s about getting stuck in that feeling of unrequited love and attention that transforms you into a two-dimensional version of yourself.”

β€œβ€˜Sad + Boring’ is a song about being stuck in those relationships that diminish you. It’s about getting stuck in that feeling of unrequited love and attention that transforms you into a two-dimensional version of yourself. Becoming like a badly written character in a movie, losing what makes you special; those little indescribable qualities making you who you truly are. Ultimately you realise that, whoever is in front of you, you are carrying this cage within yourself.”

Trap-inspired percussion meets rock ballad melodies, as the young artist plays with familiar elements of uncertainty, boldly expressing his tumultuous battle with the world, and ultimately, himself.

It’s taken Issermann 10 years in the music industry to finally find his voice, having moved to London 12 years ago and first absorbing life through the eyes of a writer, producer, performer and industry insider. ‘Sad + Boring’ is the follow-up to Isserman’s debut single, ‘Throated’, earlier this year, which set the scene for his distinctive blend of grungy rock music, intimate lyrics and poignant percussion.

‘Sad + Boring’ is out now.
