On Tour: Boy & Bear Hit the UK & Ireland

Today, sees Boy & Bear kick off their headline tour at Dublin’s Academy Green Room, ahead of the consecutive UK dates.

Last year, the band celebrated a No.1 album in their homeland of Australia, where Limit of Love shot straight into the top spot upon its release. This follows their platinum-selling album Harlequin Dream, which saw them play 170 shows across three continents, before returning to the studio in 2014.

Boy & Bear teamed up with renowned producer, Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs) to work on Limit of Love, with the intention of cutting a record the old fashioned way – live in the studio, straight to tape, with virtually no overdubs.

“I was shitting myself,” laughs Dave Hosking (vocals and guitar), who took on the almost-unheard-of challenge of recording his vocals live with the band. “But it’s funny you know, what made it less intimidating was having someone like Ethan there, who is such an advocate for it. He put it on the table at our first meeting, that he’d be very keen to at least try going for it as a first approach. When we left the meeting we felt pretty good about it. We were up for the challenge.”

Boy & Bear are completed by Killian Gavin (vocals and guitar), Timothy Hart (drums and vocals), Jonathan Hart (vocals, banjo, mandolin and keyboards) and David Symes (bass).
