World Vegan Day: Four London Hot Spots to Try This November 1st

World Vegan Day is here and we have rounded up a very small taster of the hottest vegan restaurants and menus in the capital this autumn. Veganism is one of the largest growing lifestyle movements and restaurants across London are proving that vegan food can be both boisterous and experimental. So, go beyond the meat free Monday; whether you be flexitarian or fully committed to the veg pledge the restaurants below are ones to keep on you radar throughout November.

The Meet

Vegan pop-up The Meet

Launching this November, The Meet in Clapham offers indulgent plant-based comfort food combined with playful vegan cocktails, all in the urban, industrial backdrop of railway arches in Clapham North. The menu offers a selection of dishes for committed vegans, experimental foodies as well as those who are just simply health-conscious. The Meet utilises the latest in meat free alternatives such as Seitan and Jackfruit alongside zingy herbs and spices to transform recognisable meaty dishes into unexpected vegan delights. Open daily, The Meet offers a range of small sharing plates, burgers, late night bites as well serving bottomless vegan brunch and Sunday roasts on the weekend. To celebrate World Vegan Day The Meet will be offering 50% off food from 25th October until 2nd November.

The Athenian

Greek street food specialists The Athenian

The new vegan menu at The Athenian draws on Greece’s healthy eating traditions and abundant fresh produce from its stunning natural landscape to create authentic vegan and vegetarian street food specialties. In the UK, Greek Food historically has been associated with little more than grilled meats and moussaka, but The Athenian has been challenging these misconceptions by adding a subtle finesse to celebrated dishes. The Athenian has just introduced Vegan gyros, shavings of seitan marinated in herbs, lemon juice and olive served with vegan mayonnaise and oregano flecked fries.

HIPCHIPS

Vegan chips and dips at HIPCHIPS

Based in Soho and famous for its five varieties of handcrafted, heritage crisps accompanied by sweet and savoury dips, the HIPCHIPS’ vegan selection includes Beetroot lemongrass marmalade and a delicious Vegan Chocolate Mousse dip for dessert. Designed with vegans in mind the new dips are the perfect balance between naughty pleasure and healthy treat.

Zia Lucia

La Vegana Pizza at Zia Lucia

Authentic Italian pizzeria Zia Lucia in Brook Green, Islington and soon to be opening its third venue in Boxpark Wembley, has become renowned for its four 48-hour slow-fermented pizza doughs: traditional white flour, wholemeal, gluten free and a black vegetable charcoal base. Each different dough can be topped with an array of classic Italian toppings and one of Zia’s most popular toppings is ‘La Vegana’ a vegan butternut squash cream, scattered with fresh tomatoes, asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes.

World Vegan Day is an annual event celebrated worldwide on 1st November.
