Monster: Killer Inspiration @ Hang-Up Gallery

We’re loving the brand new exhibition at Stoke Newington’s Hang-Up gallery.

Magnus Gjoen was inspired by an FBI article analysing the mind of a serial killer, and their preoccupation with fantasy as children, for his latest collection of work entitled ‘Monster’.

The artist combines delicate, decorative imagery with bold geometric shapes and primary colours to illustrate the complex, yet confused mind; exploring the fragility of the psyche with a new abstracted and graphic direction.

“I think a lot of people have traits in them that could make them serial killers,” says Gjoen. “But there are a few factors that are missing which keep us within the limits and borders of society.”
